EDINA NEW PATIENT INFORMATION

WELCOME TO YOUR NEW DENTAL HOME

First Visit Experience

“ I never learned so much about my teeth!” – P.N.

From the moment you call us to the end of your first visit, we make learning all about you our priority. Why? The more we know about your and your smile, the more we can educate you, putting you in charge of your own oral health. We are here to guide, support, and encourage you, but ultimately, all choices regarding your oral health are up to you. If you want to find ideal health and beauty, you have definitely come to the right place!Because this first visit is so important, it may take a little longer than you are used to dental visits taking. Be prepared to set aside approximately 90 minutes for this visit. It covers a lot – you won’t regret it!

Upon arrival to this visit – and at every visit to follow – a team member will greet you, take your coat if necessary, give you something to drink (coffee, tea, water, juice – if you have a preference let us know!), show you around the office, and sit down for a chat. This is a very special time for us; though we do go over your paperwork and medical history, getting to know you and welcome you into our patient family is also a vital part of creating just the right treatment plan for you and your needs. We want you to tell us, in your own words, about what you have done, dentally, for yourself until this appointment.

Every smile is as unique as the person who wears it, and we don’t want to miss a thing about you!

Our comprehensive exams are our first introduction to your oral health, so we thoroughly analyze your teeth, gums, mouth, jaw, head, and neck to ensure that we can properly recommend your customized treatment plan. But don’t worry! There is nothing tedious or boring about these initial exams as patients love them and usually exclaim how much they have learned about their mouths! And now with the addition of our Ai software, patients love seeing up close what is happening in their mouth and understand that catching potential problems such as cavities, periodontal disease, or abnormalities in tooth structure at such an early stage, usually unidentifiable by current technology, is a huge benefit to early intervention. Our primary purpose is to look at your long-term needs and determine what we can do to help you stay healthy for as long as possible with as little work as feasible.

If your needs are straightforward, we can often offer you a treatment plan on the spot. Other times, Dr. Brandenburg likes to take some time to contemplate and investigate your case, come up with some options, and then bring you back for a consultation.

Your cleaning will take place at your next visit. In the future, your exams will take place with your cleanings, but we separate the two in this initial visit in order to get the best overview of your health possible, gather all necessary data, and create the most accurate baseline possible as a starting point for all future visits – including the way we customize your cleaning!

Here’s what we’ll review during your first visit at our office :

  • Dialogue on your needs, concerns, and desires
  • Review, in your own words, of your dental history
  • Digital x-rays, digital photos, intra-oral camera exam
  • Periodontal exam and pocket measurements
  • Oral cancer screening
  • TMD/ headache assessment
  • Cosmetic consultation
  • Sleep disorders education
  • Discussions on how we help you keep your dentistry affordable
