“ I never learned so much about my teeth!” – P.N.
From the moment you call us to the end of your first visit, we make learning all about you our priority. Why? The more we know about your and your smile, the more we can educate you, putting you in charge of your own oral health. We are here to guide, support, and encourage you, but ultimately, all choices regarding your oral health are up to you. If you want to find ideal health and beauty, you have definitely come to the right place!Because this first visit is so important, it may take a little longer than you are used to dental visits taking. Be prepared to set aside approximately 90 minutes for this visit. It covers a lot – you won’t regret it!
Upon arrival to this visit – and at every visit to follow – a team member will greet you, take your coat if necessary, give you something to drink (coffee, tea, water, juice – if you have a preference let us know!), show you around the office, and sit down for a chat. This is a very special time for us; though we do go over your paperwork and medical history, getting to know you and welcome you into our patient family is also a vital part of creating just the right treatment plan for you and your needs. We want you to tell us, in your own words, about what you have done, dentally, for yourself until this appointment.
As soon as we all feel acquainted with each other, Dr. Brandenburg will accompany you to the exam room where she will focus in on the actual exam. This is when you get to learn all about your smile. As she gathers data about your oral health using a thorough visual and manual screening, digital x-rays ( when necessary), the intra-oral camera, and more,Dr. Brandenburg will show you and talk to you about what she is seeing. Our primary purpose is to look at your long-term needs and determine what we can do to help you stay healthy for as long as possible with as little work as feasible.
If your needs are straightforward, we can often offer you a treatment plan on the spot. Other times, Dr. Brandenburg likes to take some time to contemplate and investigate your case, come up with some options, and then bring you back for a consultation.
Your cleaning will take place at your next visit. In the future, your exams will take place with your cleanings, but we separate the two in this initial visit in order to get the best overview of your health possible, gather all necessary data, and create the most accurate baseline possible as a starting point for all future visits – including the way we customize your cleaning!
